About PT-141

PT-141 is bremelanotide, a cyclic seven-residue peptide closely related to Melanotan II; it ends in a free acid where Melanotan II ends in an amide. In research its activity is followed mainly at the melanocortin 4 receptor (MC4R) in the brain rather than at the pigment-cell receptor MC1R.

As bremelanotide it went through phase 3 trials (Kingsberg et al., 2019) and became an approved medicine in a prefilled autoinjector; Thurston et al. (2022) studied how MC4R agonism changes brain processing. Medabol supplies it for laboratory research only, under Hormone & growth axis.

PT-141 and Melanotan II weigh almost the same — how are they told apart?

Their molecular weights differ by only about 1 Da (1025.2 g/mol for PT-141) because one ends in an acid and the other in an amide. MS identity on the COA resolves the difference; the CAS number, 189691-06-3 for PT-141, is the other check.

Do the approved product's instructions apply to this powder?
