About Sermorelin

Sermorelin is the N-terminal 29 residues of human GHRH, finished with a C-terminal amide. This short fragment keeps the receptor-binding activity of the full-length hormone, which is why it became the point of comparison for later engineered GHRH analogues such as CJC-1295 and Tesamorelin.

Native GHRH fragments are cleared quickly, mostly because the enzyme DPP-4 cuts between the first two residues; the substitutions in the later analogues are aimed at that weak point. The literature below includes early clinical pharmacology (Corpas et al., 1992) and a 1999 review of the compound (Prakash et al.). Sermorelin is listed under Hormone & growth axis.

How does Sermorelin relate to CJC-1295 and Tesamorelin?

All three act at the GHRH receptor. Sermorelin is the plain fragment; CJC-1295 and Tesamorelin are modified to resist cleavage, and CJC-1295 with DAC also binds albumin. They are separate products with different masses — check the CAS number on each page.

Which form does the COA confirm?

The amidated peptide (ending in -NH2) with the molecular weight of 3357.9 g/mol shown above. The free-acid form would differ by about 1 Da, which MS identity picks up.
