About ARA 290 (Cibinetide)

ARA 290, also called cibinetide or pHBSP, is a short synthetic peptide modelled on helix B of erythropoietin (EPO). It has 11 residues and starts with a pyroglutamate. It was designed to keep EPO's signalling through the tissue-protective receptor complex — the EPO receptor paired with CD131 — and to lack EPO's effect on red-cell production.

Much of the published work is clinical research on small-fibre nerves, including corneal nerve measurements (Culver et al., 2017; Brines et al., 2018). We list it under Recovery & repair with the other immune-signalling peptides; EPO itself is in the hormone group.

Does ARA 290 act like EPO on red blood cells?

It was designed not to. ARA 290 keeps the part of EPO's structure linked to the tissue-protective receptor complex and was built to lack activity on red-cell production. EPO is a separate catalog product.

What does the pyroglutamate mean for the COA?

The first residue is a ring-closed pyroglutamate, so MS identity checks the mass of that form — 1257.3 g/mol in the table above — rather than an open-chain one.
